Here's an interesting little page I stumbled across, includes a few actions I wasn't aware of and some other bits and bobs that could come in handy.

That was interesting, and I think the author makes a very good point. With the possibility of striking it (relatively) rich, bearing the burdens of life at sea was a bit easier. It made me think of Jack Aubrey, and how in the early books OŽBrian picks up on this.
