This one's a doozy! Link: link Andrew and I were able to get another Armada game in – still using one core set so we're setting up on a 3'x3' board. We again randomly drew an objective: "Fleet Ambush". Since Andrew had lower points, he elected to give me Initiative. I chose to put the CR-90 in the ambush zone. I also put all 3 X-Wing squadrons with him (I think that's allowed? They were within range 1 or 2 of a friendly ship?). The ambush was sprung!
This is the last of the 180pt battles in the hopper, so we'll have bigger and badder 300pt guys up next! That link again: link |

(note: This is illegal! We're cheaters!) We're innovators! We think outside the box! ;->= Thanks so much; only JUST cracked the cello on the box. Getting my head around the maneuver rules, and will say, impressed so far for balance of sim-move and flexibility. Doug |

I am REALLY looking forward to your 300 point report. I want an ARMADA game and three ships just ain't an armada! Seriously interested on the practicality of playing large games. |

Thanks Doug! Scott- so far we've really enjoyed the 300 point games. Can't wait till the imps get some cheaper ships to really open up the playing field. |

Steve, Any guesses on the upper limit to a practical game? |

Having played 300 point games in about 90 minutes, I'd say the "upper limit" is probably 5 or 600 points for 1 on 1, and that will take all of an evening. I think 2 on 2 300 pts each will go pretty quick with maybe the minor caveat of 2 ships/4 fighters activated at a time. I intend to try that. The tournament packet has max tournament sizes at 400 points/side and 2.5 hour rounds which I think is reasonable. Personally, I am really in the "less is more" camp in most miniature games, so I think 300 on a 6x3 is going to remain just about right. 400 will let all the toys come out. Larger might be a big cumbersome! |

Having just played a 300 point, I really l like the feel. We are still learning so it took about 2 hrs. 500-600 would be do able in a afternoon and would probably be a blast. |

Does sound like it might be one of the games where playing partial battles would make sense. Club or store events where several tables represent squadron meetings, with the survivors gathering in the finale, is what I'm thinking. Personally, I'd like to see more attempted in various game systems, though the work up suggests fanaticism required. ;->= Doug |
