A preview of the Squadron Strike rules is up on BoardGameGeek: link You can also download it, and the play aids, from link (you need to scroll to the bottom of the page. After you take a look at it, you can see what we're trying to do with the AVID Assistant app to make it easier for new players to get into the game: link (There's kind of a cool space combat video at this link--short, but neat.)
