Yes, I know there's a yahoogroup.

I notice that some infantry RPG types have a range of 1" while others are C (close combat).

However, if a moving unit comes within 1" of an enemy, an assault is launched, which also permits C type weapons to be used.
Is there a difference between C and 1 then that I am missing somewhere?

I would assume that the 1" range gives you some standoff capability that could be a ranged attack as opposed to the far more bloody assault action.

I did think of one instance:

If the range is 1", you can fire at long range at 1.5".
So if you can position yourself exactly 1.5" away, you can shoot without getting shot at.

Yes, Weasel, you are correct. A 1" effective range gives you a 1.5" long range for standoff AT capability, unlike infantry with a 'C' rating, which can *only* fire in Close combat (1" or less).

It's a pretty fine balance, however, since there's only a half-inch between firing and being in close combat. This would be pretty easy to mis-judge (except if you were the one moving and stopping at 1.5").

Hey that is fifty meters and that 50 meters is a long way.

It is when trying to hit something with an RPG!
