It's been a while since the last update message for the Solo Wargamers Association Lone Warrior Blog, so what's new for April?
First off – the latest sample article is (H)existential Angst PDF link by Paul Le Long, taken from Lone Warrior 188. It's about hexes and small places and setting up a game where no game will fit…
Paul has also supplied Osprey reviews in brief for Elite 186 Vietnam Infantry Tactics PDF link and Combat 5 British Infantryman versus German Infantryman 1916 PDF link
Mike Crane has reviewed some Mick Yarrow 1/3000th scale ships link for WWII games. Some nice pictures here.
Jonathan Aird has an in depth look at Osprey New Vanguard 22 Panther Variants PDF link – and says build some Panther Ostwallturms!
And Rob Morgan takes a detailed look at Osprey MAA 117 The Polish Army 1939-45 PDF link and recommends some figures to go with it.
Rob is also taken with the tufenk shown in Osprey Men-at-Arms 140, "Armies of the Ottoman Turks 1300-1774" link . What is the tufenk ? A primitive handgun ? A greek fire syphon ? There seems little, and contradictory, evidence to answer this query!
And finally, Jonathan Aird reviews Simon Scarrow's Eagle in the sand PDF link – more of the adventures of Cato and Macro and which is "the kind of satisfying Roman Army romp that we
have come to expect from Simon Scarrow. A gripping page turner which is well worth a look".
So – have a look at the blog, if you will, read what you want and then…read on….if you like.
