How wonder how they fit with the other ranges out there? In particular Foundry .

Newline Hittites and Foundry ones fit very well if that helps. If you scroll back few posts I have Hittite mixture of spear with Foundry and Newline.

Oh thanks

I have some dark ages archers and they fit in well with my GB plastic vikings and saxons. The sculpts are a bit lifeless compared to the better ranges like GB but they are fine for filling out the ranks more cheaply.

I like Newline's stuff. They have the advantage that you can get the figures 4 to a 60 mm frontage base! Some other ranges have figures with very active poses and particularly with Ancients have spears at all angles. This looks Ok on single figures , but is a nightmare when you come to put eight on a base. So the Newline poses make a lot of sense!

Newline are great and fit with every other figure ever made-especially Foundry.
And they are cheap -especially the unit deals and then there is a sale every now and again.
And they have good gripping hands for steel spears.
I must admit, as Marshall Mark says some are a bit lacking in dynamics and I do use them for filler in my Spanish army but they are the mainstay of my Biblical and Classical Indian forces (I think SHQ now carries the Indian range buttheye are still great figs)
Second and third from the left are Newline -the others ares Crusader/A&A.

Can't believe people are still farting around trying to fit four figures on a 60mm base… evil grin

This new ancients range is interesting partly because I think I am right in saying that Newline used to have a large 28 mm ancients range which was, believe sold to SHQ. I wonder why they are re-doing it? Renewed interest in Ancients due to Hail Caeser, new DBA etc?
