Has anyone tried building or using Towable Pods for Missile ordinance? I built some, but wanted to know what other players thought about this. Example: Basically build a 24 mass pod, 3 hull 1 FC and either 10 HM or 5 Salvo. Then put towing capacity on a ship. |

Yup, done it after i started reading the Honor Harrington series. Tho mine only had one hull point and were smaller mass but same concept. |

Really? That's in HH? Sorry, somebody brought that to a game, and I'd smile and pick up my ships. Gritting my teeth, mind you. Doug |

Yeah it gives battlecruisers a super dreadnoughts missiles. Iirc one broadside was 400something missiles strong. |

Really? That's in HH? Yup, about 5-6 books in is when the "pod ships" and LACs start showing up. And that really makes things UGLY. |

Very Starfire SBMHAWK in style if you ask me. I'd price it as a STRONG hull to make it expensive enough. |

I did something similar, now that you mention it, with Starfire whilst idly tinkering with ship design ideas. Later on I found it was not such an original idea, as it was in one of the Starfire books (Insurrection, I think). Not so much a towed missile pod, as it was a towed tail gunner, since in Starfire ships have a 60 degree blind spot to the rear due to drive field effects. The towed ship had just enough engine power to make it through a warp point, while the larger towing ship was somewhat over-engined to compensate when they were paired. Doug |

Nope, still wouldn't play. If the 'engine wash' didn't effect the gunner's effectiveness, or survivability, still walking. Tanstaafl. Doug |
