UK comedy about a british army bomb disposal team in afghanistan, now in its third series……for those who have missed it.

Bestest thing on the telly box by many multiples of 1.609344Km…

I think it's quite good, some of the kit is a bit iffy, but it captures squaddie humour in Afghanistan and in general really well.

That it is very funny whilst not shying away from the realities of the situation points to excellent writing.

What is the dodgy kit btw?

Cambria562204 Apr 2015 9:22 a.m. PST

All sorts of dodgy kit. Most obvious is probably uniform (US multicam instead of MTP in either CS95 or PCS), but also the PPE (body armour and other items) doesn't match what was issued after MTP came out. Eqpt carried also lacks authenticity (such as rifle mods and location & look of pouches).
Despite these minor flaws, it is an excellent programme that captures the overall 'look' and squaddie humour really well, as Foxweasel says.

I'll guess a lot of that is due to availability and cost…I doubt it has a huge budget. I doubt the Afgans use Alouette choppers either but the South Africans do (which is where it's filmed)…..

Not for those that would be offended by squaddie humour and language … but it's really the only telly entertainment show I watch these days …

thumbs up!

Don't get dawghoused. wink

I suppose I should have wrote NSFW due to the language.

I tried to watch an episode of this, but it didn't raise a smile, and the failure of a very obviously South African location to convince as Afghanistan was just manure on the cake.

Most of the positive comments here seem to be from people for whom the laughs come from associations with their own personal experience.

Watched the first series. Didn't find it even slightly amusing, so gave up.
