1) So Warlord as well as Rubicon have a StuG coming out.
Between the two which one to buy and why?
2) In general, for vehicles, between the two lines which vehicles to buy and why?

Rubicon. I have models from both (not a STUG yet) and around here Rubicon is cheaper and better in my opinion.

I haven't seen the Stugs yet, so things may change, but in the case of both the T-34 and the Pz IV the Rubicon model has better detail.

Having said that, I'd always choose JTFM (in resin) over either of those options.

The Rubicon line generally has detachable schurtzen, multiple turrets and/or guns which can be easily magnetized and changed out to give you a variety of vehicles you could field.

Rubicon for being able to swap out the barrel!

jdginaz03 Apr 2015 10:23 a.m. PST

After getting the Rubicon Sherman and the fiasco that is the 76mm turret I'm Leary of getting anything else from them.

"Rubicon for being able to swap out the barrel!"

You get both barrels with the Warlord StuG also

I've put together the Rubicon Panzer IV and Panzer III and those kits are just fine.

You cant use a word like "fiasco" and not explain further.
You are the first person i have seen to make any negative comment about Rubicon or their products. Please explain further.

I've built a Warlord Panther, Panzer IV, and a Sdkfz 251 so far. Also a Sherman. All of the kits were well molded and easy to assemble. They fit together well (make sure your track tops are pointed in the correct direction). Their detail is pretty good considering how few pieces are involved in the kits.

I have a Rubicon Tiger and Panzer III kit on deck to build next. There are more parts in these kits, especially around the roadwheels. Can't comment on assembly yet but overall molding looks good.

The turret for the 76mm version is not even close to the correct shape.

I will be reviewing both the Warlord and Rubicon StuG's this week on my blog, and posting links here for people to see, and also doing a comparison with other StuG's on the market.

nazrat10 Apr 2015 10:23 a.m. PST

Looking forward to that, Andy!

I now have reviews of Warlords plastic, Blitzkriegs and Die Waffenkamemrs StuG's live on the blog, tomorrow I'll be adding Rubicons and Sunday I'll comparing all 4, as well as Warlords old resin one. Here's a link link
