I know that Hal stops by here, so I thought I could have him answer a question for me.

Many moons ago, I purchased your F&I War collection. It included some scratchbuilt blockhouses, cabins and a palisades fort.
Do you remember who made the buildings for you?
Was it Duke? Or Herb Gundt ? or ????

Thanks, my old friend.

Might have been Curtis Murf.

Maybe Doug Caroccio's father.

nevinsrip03 Apr 2015 1:15 p.m. PST

No, it wasn't Doug's parents. I know that for sure. I think that it as someone who lived near Hal.

It was his friend, as I bought his Afghan Fort – beautiful!
This was about 20 years ago.

Tricorne It was a bit earlier than that. Probably the early to mid eighties. So, it may have been a different guy.

Does the first name Clem ring a bell to anyone? I seem to remember that name from MWAN.

You are correct – it was Clem Clemens who built the fort, the FIW buildings and the FFL fort and buildings. I am sorry I sold them! Clem died perhaps ten years ago. He was in the Merchant Marines in WWII and loved to make ships before we met. We lived very close to each other. He was very good at his craft and adapted it to wargames buildings. Excellent work and a very nice gentleman.

Hi, Hal. I thought that it was Clem, but could not remember his last name. He certainly was an excellent modeller. I've pulled out all of his buildings and am finally (only since the mid eighties!!) deciding how I want to display them. They will look fantastic with my Galloping Major and Redoubt Indians. Frontiersmen and settlers will be made up of GM, Redoubt and Kings Mountain figures.

At least his work lives on and it is appreciated.

Always good to hear from you, Hal.

Makes you wonder what happens to all those collections of beautiful wargame armies over the years.

Hal
You can not have your fort back!
