Looks like a pretty decent design to me, and given the armor ratings of some Russian tanks, I suspect this one will be quite good as well. Makes sense to protect the crew down in the hull, and you can have a smaller turret profile that way too. They'll be even better protected in hull-down mode, and since the autoloader takes care of the gun, you can just use remote sights for targeting. My only concern would be how hardened those are, since it is possible a hard, non-penetrating, kinetic hit could cause a sighting equipment linkage failure, but I imagine they've thought of that as well. |
