Wonderful painting, but I am always taken by the skill needed to photograph then to the standard shown here. Really makes my case, though, that Westfalia could make a killing by releasing their swingle trees and draw ropes as an upgrade set…maybe adding chain or two and a bucket or something. The harness they have recently released with the French artillery train would make it so simple to have this team actually pulling the vehicles. I do love your ambulance diorama on your website. Envy. Mine is still in shiny metal, but one day……… |

Hi Steve, Really like these as they are well painted and based. I've done some too, 3 limbers plus a caisson and was going to show them off here but have just realised that I've got the limber riders on the right-hand horses so maybe they'll just have to wait until I've done the rest so that they can hide amongst the others! So silly as I've done loads of Prussian, French and British limbers but just goes to show that you can't be too careful. Certainly not going to re-base them but will make sure that I get it right with the next 6 limbers and 2 caissons which aren't even started yet. Agree that an upgrade set from Westfalia would be great! Cheers, Paul |

Oh sympathy! I always moan about folk who simply cannot put their artillery crew in any sensible orientation….. But then I look at my first ever Napoleonic figures (well for 28 years anyway) and I see my Perry DB HA and My Garde HA with the 6 pdr….and the spongeman is on the wrong side……both still are! 3 Limbers though…that is heart breaking. I would be tempted to move and rebase…OK I am obessional. The Westfalia tackle that comes with their French train is a huge improvement. It now has the rope to attach to the horse ahead. Look at the pics above. The only fault (in what is way beyond my skills) is the harness. Each horse is sitting doing nothing. The swingle tree is hanging vertically down loose. I used to buy brass picture wire and try to superglue to those swingle trees (the cross bars). Infuriating exercise. Let's campaign to get Westfalia to make an artillery train upgrade. All the pieces are made. They would transform existing Perry limbers etc |
