"The phenomenon that is Game of Thrones returns to HBO on April 12, and then to laptops everywhere an hour after that. The show, of course, is based on 20 years of books by George R.R. Martin, which require a fair bit of streamlining and condensing to tell the story in a visual format that isn't 700 hours long. Sometimes, though, the showrunners decide to make changes to the source material that wind up making certain scenes and characters make no Bleeped text sense whatsoever…"

Martin does plenty of that on his own.

Other than the Dragons bit, which I do not remember any details of, the rest are Meh criticisms at best.

1 is the worst, has the guy NOT been watching? Tyrion did what he did due to how HE was treated.

Which seals the Lannister's fate.

They no longer have the driving force that was behind the family.

They are so screwed.

sneakgun01 Apr 2015 6:50 p.m. PST

The endless torture scenes with Theon Greyjoy made no sense whatsoever.

No, no, sneakgun, you just don't understand the endless torture scenes.

Spoilers for old book.

See, for Martin, it's not enough for someone to get punished or mistreated, he has to Drive. It. Into. You. Again. And. Again. And. Again.

"Oh? Don't like that nasty Jaime Lannister? Let me mangle and humiliate him until you pity him!

Don't like Theon? Let me torture and humiliate him until you pity him!

Don't like how Brienne is mocked for being ugly? Let me BITE OFF HER FACE!

Don't like how Tyrion is mocked for being ugly? Let me hack off his nose and humiliate him more! Hey, and let me give him LEPROSY, too!

The world is terrible! Wheeeee!"

Some people deserve torture. I would be upset if Theon were NOT tortured.
