Anyone know when the glider infantry in the US Airborne divisions switched over from the M41 jackets to the M43? Thanks! |

I would take an educated guess that it was after Normandy, during their refit in England and preparation for Market Garden. I believe the US Army decided at this point to streamline uniforms, and that was when the M43 was issued. |

I believe the glidermen were identical to regular infantry thru normandy. Possible exception of scrounged equipment, boots, weapons, etc. A practice not exclusive to them. Once withdrawn for refit, replacements and rest, they started to receive the newer uniform. Not sure how complete the replacement with the new uniform was by Market-Garden. |

The airborne for Market Garden were some of the first units to receive M43 clothing, mainly because they had been withdrawn from Normandy and underwent re-equipping in the UK before being dropped again in Holland. M43 was to be the uniform for all arms of service; so parachute and glider infantry were dressed the same. |
