This is a pretty specific topic for the Seven Years War crowd but Highlanders are one of those topics that elicits passion The British expanded their army in the Seven Years War to 115 infantry regiments – of which exactly 8 were Highland regiments. Three served in North America (42, 77 and 78), two in Germany (87 and 88), one each in India (89), the Caribbean (100) and Ireland (105) It seems to me that those with British armies of the Seven Years War really like their Highlanders – I have 3 regiments (42, 77 and 87) out of my 12 British regiments So – to the Seven Year War crowd – how many Highlanders in your armies? A – None! Proper infantry wear pants B – A few (1 – 3) – they add colour to all those white breeches C – Lots! (4 plus) – you can't have too many Highlanders D – Too many – you mean they only had 8 regiments and a max of three in one theatre? E – No British troops F – Not a Seven Years War gamer |

I see your point & would apply it to the Napoleonic period where I have 4 Highland (& a number of Lowland) battalions. So, generally, C . |

I had two. One for formal engagements in and around Quebec (I did them in the brown kilt whose provenance escapes me…) and some for smiting Pontiac and Buick and Oldsmobile. I think they were the Black Watch since I gave them a red overstripe. |

I have two for the French & Indian war but I only ever use one on the table at a time as they served on different fronts! |

I have 6 or 7, and three in production. I use some of these in my Imaginations countries, with Albion having 3, Thuringia (the Hanover of Albion) having a Schottisches Hochlander battalion, and Aquitaine (the Frenchy types) having just raised one as well.. I've also put one in one of my central Germanie countries. We've just finished the Petrine Rebellion in Albion, so there will be lots of Highlanders going abroad, I suspect. |

I want C or even D but generally restrict myself to B, so they'll stand out better and retain their uniqueness. And it's more "historical," grumble grumble. I keep reminding myself, "It's a British army, not a Scottish one," or I'd mainly field Scottish regiments. Can't help myself. |

E – No Brits, Although I have unpainted Brits that I was going to paint up as Hanoverian's, still haven't gotten to them yet. |
