I'm thinking about doing some battles based on the year of the five emperors or some of the Roman Civil Wars that happened after Julius.

Do you have any recommendations?

Society of Ancient's "The Roman Empire Order of Battle for the Civil Wars 68-70AD (on CD-ROM)". Really useful!

Also Tacitus' Annals.

A.D69 is a good read

I'll say the 'Battles for Wargamers', The Roman Civil Wars' by Terry Wise.
An old but faithful companion.

The twelve ceasers by Mathew Dennison is a good read.

If you haven't read it already, Tacitus "The Histories" has a nicely detailed account of the campaigns of 69 AD.

I agree with Mandy Potemkin about AD69. I bought a copy from a second-hand bookshop 10 years ago when I was looking for information on Emperor Vespasian and it hooked me on EIR Civil Wars.

Thanks for the recommendation BigRedBat. I have just recieved my copy of the Civil Wars CD-ROM. A fantastic resource. Also outstanding customer support by the Society of Ancients. I can't recommend high enough!

Hi Oliver, thanks!

It is such a useful resource, I have recommended it more than once and have been told I've helped sell quite a few copies. I'm running a game at Salute based on the OOB for first Cremona.

I think you just pushed me over the edge for Salute 2015.

As my wife has bagged tickets to see New Zealand versus Namibia in September I think I can justify Salute this year.

I will try to catch the First Cremona Game.

Hi Oliver, it's a date, then! Best, Simon

I bought the SoA Civil Wars CD and I'm waiting for it eagerly.
