I know the TOW missile was available from the early 1970s, but would like to know when the M150 variant of the M113 APC was fielded by the USAREUR, in Europe? I imagine certainly by the mid-1970s, but suspect it might have been a little earlier than that. Can't find any definitive info, on-line. Thoughts? |

In 1975-76 I had 2 in my Weapons Platoon, B co 2-13 Inf, 8th Infantry Division. They were there when I arrived and were not new. The Battalion AT platoon also had them. |

I struggled to find this a while ago. 1972/3 seemed the most likely from some vague comments I found. |

Funny, 2 years later I was @ 3 blocks away from David (B 3/8 CAV, 8ID). We turned ours in for M901 (ITV). |

Thanks for the info. 1972 – 1973 is close enough. What year did you get your m901, Saber6? I've read they started deploying those as early as 1980, but that some units apparently didn't get them until as late as 1989. |

I would have been just down the street from both of you, Scout Plt, CSC 2/13th Inf 8th ID 80-82. When I got there in Aug of 80 during Reforger, they had just got the M901's and the old M150 TOWCAP's were still sitting in the Motor Pool. Some troop called the "Conestoga's" because of the cover that went over the cargo hatch were the TOW system was at. M150 link M150 "Conestoga" link link M150 and M901's
