I made my mind up to do the 146th New York "Garrads Tigers" so here are the first three

I am hoping they are up to scratch. After reading about the blue of the uniforms a mid blue seemed more accurate, so thanks for looking

Cheers for now Russ

Wow – that is one great painting job

vtsaogames29 Mar 2015 4:37 p.m. PST

Very nice, as usual.

TIG, thank you for the compliment. If they meet with your approval then I'm guessing I'm on the right track! Thank you for all your help an advice it is very much appreciated.

Cavcrazy, thank you also, I'm just hoping once they are all completed and based they look as good.

Frederick, zouaves sure do look nice. They do take a while but hopefully they will be worth it.

vtsaogames, thank you also. My Union forces are now closing in number's with my confederates so the balance is now almost level!

I will post pics as soon as I get them finished, so thanks for all the comments and feedback, keep looking and I will keep posting
cheers for now Russ

Russ, with you doing specialty type units, are Berdans on your list to do?

GoodOldRebel30 Mar 2015 9:30 a.m. PST

ooh can we suggest Regiments for Bracken to add to his collection? lol

wrgmr130 Mar 2015 11:00 a.m. PST

Very nice paintwork, can't wait to see the entire unit.

bracken Supporting Member of TMP30 Mar 2015 1:28 p.m. PST

TIG I have already done some figures for Berdans, I still want to do afew more. I added some conversions, I just couldn't help myself I'm afraid.

its not the best photo but I will take some better photos when I get the chance

GoodOldRebel, if anyone wishes to donate any figures to my collection! Please feel free I promise to give them a good home and look after them. lol

wrgmr1, thanks for the kind words they are warmly received. I must admit I'm looking forward to seeing the mass effect of the full regiment!

So thanks for looking
Cheers for now Russ

Really good looking minis! :) Keep up the good work!

bracken Supporting Member of TMP31 Mar 2015 2:13 a.m. PST

Thanks The Jeppan, they are slow going but the results seem to speak for themselves, I normally painted in batches of six! I have dropped down to three for these so I can consentrate on the detail better.

tigrifsgt31 Mar 2015 11:48 a.m. PST

I really like those Berdans, especially the officer.

bracken Supporting Member of TMP31 Mar 2015 2:52 p.m. PST

Thanks TIG he started off as "bayonets" Chamberlain, the entire pistol hand and pistol are made from greenstuff, I think he turned out not too shabby even if I do say so myself. I do intend to add some more sooner or later. I have big plans for ACW collection!

GoodOldRebel31 Mar 2015 3:05 p.m. PST

More superb work bracken!! I'm with Tig, the officer is a real stand out figure among some very, very fine work indeed!

bracken Supporting Member of TMP01 Apr 2015 1:21 p.m. PST

I've abit of a soft spot for berdans I'm afraid so I will be doing more! I will probably add a few more conversions just for good measure. Converting figures does seem to be addictive

GoodOldRebel01 Apr 2015 4:03 p.m. PST

I'd imagine a unit such as Berdans' would offer considerable scope for conversions

bracken Supporting Member of TMP02 Apr 2015 10:14 a.m. PST

I've taken some more photos of my Berdans but the light was pretty poor after I got home from work. I will have a look how they turned out, if they pass muster I will post them in a bit under their own post.
I appreciate all the feedback and comments guys, it helps keep the momentum going, and if it inspires anyone into the bargain then all the better.

ACWBill05 Apr 2015 1:49 p.m. PST

One of my favorite units which I have painted in both 10mm and 28mm over the last few years. I currently have Zouaves on the production line for Plank Road, which will give me a chance to paint them again!

bracken Supporting Member of TMP06 Apr 2015 2:03 a.m. PST

ACWBill, I like zouaves but I must admit it seems to take it out of me painting them. Thing is once I'm done on one lot the next lot starts calling, maybe I'm a glutton for punishment! They do add a lot of character to any collection.

GoodOldRebel06 Apr 2015 2:50 p.m. PST

just wondering whether a mixed unit of Wheat's Tigers/Coppen's Zouaves might work?

tigrifsgt06 Apr 2015 6:47 p.m. PST

I would keep them on separate stands. That way, your Coppens boys could double as 5th N.Y. They are pretty much the same exact uniform. Historically, Wheats and Coppens guys didn't really like each other. Both units were recruited from around the same area of New Orleans. TIG

bracken Supporting Member of TMP09 Apr 2015 3:44 a.m. PST

I must admit I have toying with the idea of different command stands to double up certain regiments where the uniform is suitable.

GoodOldRebel11 Apr 2015 2:26 a.m. PST

Good advice TIG, and I really like the idea of being able to use the figures for both Coppens'/5th New York!!
