I backed this KS last year and now even after many emails I have had no satisfaction. According to Rick his computer blew up or something and he lost the plans. Well apart from very bad house keeping, no backups, it all sounds bogus to me. I have asked for a refund to which he agreed to when he could afford it? Oh he also had to cancel one design because of some problems. So is there anything that can be done to get my money back |

You can clearly get the lawyers on to him, based upon whatever funding agreement you signed. However with KS projects you are an equity investor effectively so you have next to no protection if the company/provider goes bust unless you can demonstrate that the person concerned had no intention of delivering what was promised. It is truly Caveat Emptor. I know it isn't helpful but there's a reason why banks won't lend money to people for some of these projects. With any investment you need ot research not just the market and desirability of the product, but also the viability of the company. |

yep definite case of checking out the company before giving them money – an expensive lesson learned, cheers |

Which KS project exactly was it? Either way, your options are fairly limited. The best bet is to contact the AG's office in his state and yours and file a complaint. That would get the ball rolling, but the track record for KS non-delivery cases is very spotty. Basically, the way KS's contract is written up, so long as the creator made a 'best faith' effort to fulfill the project it's very hard to pin anything on them. And it's not legally clear if the project creators can even be held to that standard; several projects have gone belly up and never made any effort to show they had tried to complete the project and there's still been no consequences. -Will |
