When shopping for miniatures, what advertising discount is most likely to get your attention and persuade you to buy?

(a) Automatic 10% (or 15%, etc.) off on an entire order.
(b) Buy a certain quantity (say three or four packs), and get one more free.
(c) Buy a certain quantity, and qualify for a group discount (say 10 or 20% off entire order).
(d) I never respond to advertising gimmicks like these.
(e) ______________ (other)

These are all examples. Feel free to offer an alternative that you find very persuasive.

A for me, and like Brennus, free shipping.

A qualified (d) for me.

No offer would get me to buy but may affect the timing or quantity. Having a use for the mini(s) is the only thing that makes me buy but free postage after £x, or similar might adjust the order up slightly but only slightly.

For me the discount doesn't matter as much as the figures in most cases. Of course price is a concern but if I can only get the figures at retail price and I want the figures then no discount is going to get me to buy other figures.

If all else was the same then I'd say C was most likely to get me to buy.

(d) like x42brown, but also (e) – deep member discount, with Winston and skipperJohn and (e)with DColtman et al – free shipping.

I buy what I want when I want it in the quantities that I want it. Sometimes I want Zouaves and Federales because I am redoing my Battala de Puebla forces, so a discount on those specific things is a happy coincidence. Sometimes I want "some scifi/VSF/fantasy/ancients/etc. stuff" and a root around in the entrails of the store (online or not) for the "so deep and cheap it makes you weep" discount … which is a game all of its own.

Honestly, I like "buy X amount and we'll throw in a secret bonus"

jdpintex27 Mar 2015 12:34 p.m. PST

Sales sometimes impact the timing of my purchases, otherwise I buy enough to qualify for free shipping. Or I just buy what I want/need

Centurian27 Mar 2015 12:35 p.m. PST

Another vote for free shippping.

Dynaman878927 Mar 2015 1:00 p.m. PST

A and C, but I will still only buy from those I would buy from anyway. GHQ for instance, I save up for the sales they have but buy from them anyway.

Shipping and either a discount or freebie of some sort

IronDuke596 Supporting Member of TMP27 Mar 2015 2:02 p.m. PST

A and or free shipping.

Mute Bystander27 Mar 2015 2:49 p.m. PST

A for me, and/or free shipping, if I was going to buy some anyway.

"Old Glory Army card with 40% off," works for me if I was going to buy enough 15/18 mm figures to make renewing my defunct membership worth the cost anyway.

ordinarybass27 Mar 2015 3:20 p.m. PST

Free Shipping and super-sales.

Since we play alot of generic sci-fi and fantasy rules, I can be very opportunistic. I'm not generally a great regular customer, since while I do buy some things at near-retail, most of what I'm looking for is things like Clearance and BTD 50% off. If I had a big project in mind I might also do the OG Army club.

Most of my stuff is second hand and I have no problems putting in the time to strip figures. Thus retailers are essentially competing against what I can find used.

Mako1127 Mar 2015 8:51 p.m. PST

40% – 50% off usually gets my attention.

Cardinal Ximenez28 Mar 2015 7:30 a.m. PST

1. Free shipping
2. 10% off would work if it was something I was going to buy anyway.
3. 20 to 30% might compel me to emabark on a new project.
