Finally finished my made up (from different buildings) version of Hougoumont. Been working on it for a while but not been doing buildings at all until recently and at last completed it!

Hello Steve!

Brilliant stuff as always. I'm looking at doing a similar thing only probably even smaller. The foot print of pretty much all of the "Waterloo" buildings, farms, chateaus, etc. are all too big for the scale of my 6mm battalions. I'm going to try and break them down into sections for big games that can fit together for the smaller ones. Some may only contain one building to a base. I'll sort this all out when the buildings arrive as they are all in the mail at present.

Thanks for the inspiration and ideas!

Best regards,

Glenn

Glenn

what make are you using?

Have you seen this new range?

I will be using these for big battles rather than more localized fighting around the farms – and for my Ligny scenario

Hello Steve!

Yes I've seen TBM and have bought their products for a number of years now. I've ordered some of their single buildings and a lot from Irregular. TBM buildings match my basing 60mm x 30mm, so I can fit one of their larger buildings on a single base or two smaller ones (30mm x 30mm). I also use 60mm x 60mm for larger complexes. I have some custom sizes that I rarely use as these will generally get way out of scale. My Hougoumont for example will probably only be 60x60. I'm trying to capture the look, not the footprint. That's where Irregulars come into play as they have a number of small buildings that fit the period. So if I decide I need to go slightly bigger then 60x60 to capture the look I should still be able to fit a number of their buildings into a more compact area.

When we do Ligny most of the villages will only consist of a couple of buildings very close together to match up with the couple of battalions that were actually in some of them.

Anyway thanks for the heads up.

Best regards,

Glenn
