You should actually start a blog and tell us how you do these, (materials used, technique, etc…) |
Smokey Roan | 26 Mar 2015 2:19 p.m. PST |
LOL! I made a great how to, step by step, with pics and all, and offered it to TMP for free. No reply! :( Strosspup got the great building that I made for it.
I don't blame Bill, he probably never got my message. But yes, Murph, I WILL show y'all how to make quick buildings, using cheap materials. Don't know how to start a blog though? :O How do you start a blog? I don't Twitter, and nobodies Twittering me, I'll say that right off the bat!

I've got CombatPainters Tex/Mex Village. About 22 different buildings. He's the one you should bug about a tutorial. I also have his scratchbuilt Alamo which blows away anything I've seen so far. See if you can get him to reveal his secrets. |

Smokey, starting & maintaining a blog is incredibly easy. Just go to Blogger or Word Press, which are both free, and choose whichever you prefer (I use blogger but both are good). It's really very simple. If I was on my computer right now instead of my phone I'd add links to both blog platforms to make it that much easier for you, but just google them and you're halfway there. |

Really like your Mexican buildings, these and the ones up for auction right now. I just have no need right now. They just don't work for my Late Romans or the F&I that I'm obsessing on right now. Great work though, Smokey. |

Thanks, PaulCollins! :) It's just for fun. I am into that old Spahghetti Western mode, and am cranking out buildings during the basketb all tourney. :) Have this 1/16th " foamboard on order, and am gonna make some Roman Villas for my 10mm ancients :) NOT for sale ! :) And thanks, Mad Guru! :) |

Well if you come up with a fast and dirty method for Late Roman/Arthurian buildings that'll work for my 1/72 plastics like you did here for Old Mexico, pass it on. |

Smokey, nice job! Can you make them in 28mm…lol. The blog things is as simple as Mad Guru says. He and my other buddy Danno walked me through it and I have a blog now too. So I guess you CAN teach an old dog new tricks! If you have a laptop bring it to the con and I'll help set it up for you. We can have a couple of beers while we put it together. Here's the link to mine. sgtguinness.blogspot.com Cheers, JB |

Wipes brow with "whew" sound. There for a moment I thought I'd have to comment about some of the ugliest buildings I'd ever seen – and then you painted them! ; ) |
Smokey Roan | 28 Mar 2015 8:04 a.m. PST |
Yeah, you know, painting does make them look better. :) |

Smokey, Geez. Man, those look absolutely fantastic! I've got tons of Midwest Cellfoam sheets I've never used: link TMP link For the stucco look I'm thinking on applying a stiff wire brush to them, in a hard "stenciling" fashion, to press down deep dimples on one side before cutting the sheets. Any thoughts or suggestions? Dan |

They do look really good painted. Really good! :-) |
Smokey Roan | 28 Mar 2015 9:00 p.m. PST |
That will work, CC Might be easier just to paint with 50/50 acrylic and Spackle Love that cell foam for carving brick and stone Thanks Cambria |
