I've been working on some vignette terrain bases for my 42mm samurai (those these would work for 28-32mm, too.)
I started doing these so I could use up my 120mm bases. I still have a couple more to go.

Just came back to admire those lovely bases again (and say that I'd love to see a step-by-step of how they were done), and noticed something about the last one – the archer has the arrow on the wrong side of the bow (for traditional Japanese archery, anyway).

Even koi in the water!?!

elsyrsyn: Shh, I'll have to quietly photoshop that (archer) later :)

Not much for a step by step: The raised level on that last piece is blue foam with a channel cut out for the creek.

The pond was painted blue-ish. Then I painted the koi. The creek is 2-part epoxy resin laid through the channel and over the pond. The waterfall took a few built-up layers.

I finished the water by painting some foam with white paint on top of the cured resin.

Based with static grass, tufts, flowers and a tree made from floral stems.

They turned out great for the amount of effort I put into them.

They each took about 2 hours; the footpath -- which will be receiving a lantern when I can find one -- took a little less than an hour.

Last note: The grave markers were sculpted with Sculpey.

Well so much for the old saw about quality and speed being mutually exclusive! Damned impressive!

Here's one more, a water well. I'm going to take a break with these now that my new shipment of samurai has arrived.
