I have some Battle Honors "dead" figures, but I need about 400 more. Working away from home during week and research time is limited and I am in a hurry. Anyone give me some feedback on any manufacturer, other than battle honors with a good selection of dead figures, mostly british and French. british can go for Belgian and French can go for dutch. Prussian dead would be nice also. Thanks a bunch |

AB Miniatures have dead/wounded French Hussars. Or are they Chassuers? |
Scott MacPhee | 26 Mar 2015 10:27 a.m. PST |
Old Glory has them for every nationality. |
Oldmoustache | 26 Mar 2015 10:48 a.m. PST |
yes 15 mm I looked at old glory, but all I saw were "wounded" packs, but they had no images to see what they actually looked like. so SCOMAC, you verify that old glory has "dead" in their "wounded" packs? |
Oldmoustache | 26 Mar 2015 10:49 a.m. PST |
I need lots of british, mostly Belgic shako, French and Prussian. Horses are mostly generic so no issue there |
Scott MacPhee | 26 Mar 2015 12:15 p.m. PST |
Yes, they have a mix of dead and wounded. And if you ask, they may just send you dead figures. They have changed pack contents for me in the past. |
Oldmoustache | 26 Mar 2015 12:45 p.m. PST |
thank you. they have me also. they've made me packs of just wheels, they've made me packs of just guns, just howitzers, etc. Without images on their website I didn't want to buy something without seeing it, or being told by someone else. Thanks for your input! |

But we are all dying to ask. Unless you are General Buonparte himself, why do you need 400 dead…and nothing more? |
Oldmoustache | 26 Mar 2015 1:38 p.m. PST |
LOL!! Because since my trip to Brussels got "interrupted", I am going all out for this 200 year celebration. We are re fighting Waterloo, and a realistic battlefield is not a realistic battlefield without DEAD laying around. Especially this field. So, hopefully there are a lot more British dead than French, but I need to be prepared. So every casualty not only receives a cap, but the battlefield receives a corpse. |

Good for you. Very rarely addressed in model form. Perrys are great for dead and wounded in 28mm and I gather they can act as markers etc in wargames. But, to me, they do add realism. I doubt they are great sellers for any manufacturer. Of course, such figures are always remarkably intact. Heads are still on, limbs are attached and blood is, at most, a bright red stain on a white undershirt. (NB dried blood is dark brown to black, in streaks down a face). As for more British or French dead on that day…let's face it, half the folk on the top of the ridge spoke German/Dutch/French anyway. Fewer than half were wearing a red coat. Would love to see some pics of your project. |

I plan on posting some. If baby and work gives me the time, i'm attempting a terrain model, not just our normal wargame table. Gonna be a lot of work, but I'm gonna enjoy it. Kind of sucks having 400 dead figures painted for one battle, but I figure if I live long enough and get to do any of my diorama's I want, I can use a few of them up! lol Or, someone else might post sometime needing dead and I can ssell a few! |

Just no point in putting 40 plus hours into a battlefield model and then fight and not have as much if the realism as possible! Dead were a big issue. Mercers journal gives a pretty vivid account of corpses actually posing a hinderence. Not going that far but still wanna see em! |

I always liked using "dead" figures in my battles. Anytime a unit would lose a stand, I would place a dead man for infantry or a dead horse for cavalry (and a wrecked gun for artillery) -- not as a casualty marker but as part of the overall look of the battle. At the end of the battle, I remove the surviving troops and survey the field, noting where the heavy fighting took place. |
Oldmoustache | 27 Mar 2015 8:29 a.m. PST |
Exactly! That's my reasoning. Purely cosmetic |
14Bore | 27 Mar 2015 2:34 p.m. PST |
I've made dead markers drawling then painting to scale (15mm) on heavy poster board with no end of gruesome poses. I have dropped one (and need to make more) every time a stand was taken away. Being flat no room is taken up. |

I once got "stuck" with some really terrible 15mm horses with a lot deal on evilbay. I discovered that if I took a coarse file and ground down one side of the horse, then it would look like a dead/wounded horse. (Just lying it down on its side, unground, it would rest with most of the horse in the air and look unrealistic). Maybe the some would work with man-figures as well. |

Could, but unfortunately I am pressed for time! Lol. Already bought em, now I just have to decide if I'll have time to paint em or pay 1$ a piece for em! Probably gonna have them done cause the battlefield is gonna consume most of my time John |

Deadhead, You asked for some pics of my project. The first six of 18 panels are done, as far as subterranean contours. I'll keep you posted as the ridges and slopes get built and terrain goes on Well, I guess I can't post pictures. So much for that |

One of our Napoleonic megagames (Eggmuehl) once prompted a letter of complaint to the editor of Wargames Illustrated, due to the 'unnecessary' quantities of 'dead' figures on the table… Ever responsive to criticism, at our next photoshoot (Auerstaedt), I made sure that the 'dead' almost outnumbered the 'living'. :) Sadly, Duncan never printed the photo he took of my 'Sharpe' figure standing on a mound of approximately 200 dead Frenchmen… |

Well I was going to post a couple pictutes for Deadhead of the waterloo field in progress, but apparently you cannot insert pictures from your phone library |
deadhead | 14 Apr 2015 11:48 a.m. PST |
Yes, really looking forward to seeing them. I do like to see a good diorama and a realistic battlefield would be welcome. If you can put the pics anywhere on line and copy and paste the URL, we get to see them. My understanding is that we do not insert the images into the TMP website….that would swamp it……we just put in the link, but the picture appears. My three sons understand theses things………… |

If you would like to see, shoot me an email: Jshelton22@att.net I was very pleased with my terrain model and the results And yes, the dead figures were a big hit! |

Regarding dead and wounded… at what point did they become an obstacle to other troops? Should the area where a battalion takes heavy loses become "rough terrain" and could this be represented by piles of dead minis? |
