Quick question;
When I read reviews of ADF I hear things like "you do have to re base no matter what is said" When I read it, I looked at it in a tool kit approach, like "Do what you want in these guidelines, this is how we did it" Did I miss something?

The number of figures in the unit matters (to calculate shooting). Base width and how many bases in the unit (2 vs 3) can be monkeyed with. We played 3 bases per unit with green/fresh units having 4 figures per base and veteran units having 3 figures per base.

No one at my club likes ADF, they seem a bit complex and other rules seem better for this scale of battles. I personally would like to try them but doubt if I will find an opponent.

I really like the ADF command and control. Not so much the rest of it. Try playing Johnny Reb III with the ADF command rules. In the one game I play tested, they worked pretty good.

The thing that drew me to them is the action/reaction concept. I'm a black powder guy at heart.

Old Pete, If you are anywhere near southeast Michigan you are welcome to give it a try with us. I'm a slow painter so it won't be anytime soon but its an open invitation.

Thanks Dobber for the kind invite, doubt if you would need to hurry to paint your figures as living in Prestwick in Scotland I do not often visit the US. Having said that I was at Gettysburg, Sharpsburg, Washington and most of Virginia last April so I will keep your offer on hold. Regards.
