"Good news, conspiracy theorist sci-fi fans: Mulder and Scully are coming back.

Although the network has not set an air date, Fox announced today that X-Files creator Chris Carter will come back to helm a new six-episode limited run of the series; the miniseries begins filming this summer.

"I think of it as a 13-year commercial break," Carter told Variety. "The good news is the world has only gotten that much stranger, a perfect time to tell these six stories."…"

Looking forward to it. The X-Files is among the top 5 genre shows in television history.

Tango0125 Mar 2015 1:18 p.m. PST

Now I am very curious my friend, which would be the other four?

If it's the early, "night stalker" type of show I'll watch; if the "where's my sister?" then passing.

I'm with you, Striker! I loved the stand-alone episodes, but when the black oil/cancer man/Scully's baby/missing sister episodes came on, I would invariably change the channel.

Is it me or does anyone else think too little too late to matter. The show was already in a downward spiral before it went off the air. The movie was just bad. So for me it is just so what.

Striker25 Mar 2015 4:08 p.m. PST

Agree Doug. With the number of years and the lackluster final shows it smells of the "hey let's tap this nostalgic time" Hollywood plan.

which would be the other four?

Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Star Trek
Game of Thrones
Doctor Who

Not necessarily in that order. Other honorable mentions:

The Walking Dead
Angel
Firefly
Battlestar Galactica
Veronica Mars
Lost
Twin Peaks

What's there left for them to investigate? :)

Thanks my friend.
I have never see Buffy.

I was a hardcore fan through the first four seasons, a mild one for the next two, and then lost interest, in part because I was living in the boonies and had limited TV access, but also because it fell into the Gilligan's Island problem of never being able to actually escape the island.

Having said that, if they can come in with a fresh reboot, I'll be interested to see what they do. I've re-watched those first few seasons on DVD recently and they still rock and I'm still in love with Scully.

Idle story ideas from the last few years: huge sinkholes that have showing up lately, Franklin expedition discovery, landing on a moving comet, micro-drones, ebola, species discoveries in Indonesia/Indochina (e.g. those ancient hobbit-like people).

I want to believe – but the movies were Bleeped texte.

And the episodes without either of them were actually more watchable.

Man.

Chris Carter must be flat broke.

How the hell did he manage to waste all that money?

Wait……

Ok, he started playing 40K.

Seems legit.
