Does anyone know of any air combat rules, WW2 or Modern, that involve fighting a large air campaign?..squadron versus squadron? Everything I see is 1 on 1 combat between individual planes. Please help! Thanks |

The Old "Red Sun,Blue Sky" series of rules were aimed at larger aerial conflicts. But I think they were still 1 to 1 but super simple so that you could put a ton of planes on the table. Other than that I don't know of any. |

The old Luftwaffe boardgame, by Avalon Hill, was squadron vs. squadron. Not sure that it will meet your desired needs, but is a set to at least look into, and consider. |

+1 leidang +1 Mako11. There are a load of boardgames pitched at the squadrons/campaign level. I guess you could replace the counters with models, if you just hate flat cardboard. |

The very old (but still a great game imo) 'Battle of Britain' by Lou Zocchi – the same designer as Luftwaffe mentioned above. link |

Some good Battle of Britain board games out there that cover the campaign. |

Jason, Are you looking for a miniatures game where one plane (or a stand) is a group of aircraft or squadron? I can't think of any air miniatures rules that do flight/squadron level combat. But, thinking outside the box a little, there are several sets of naval rules that do that. Off the top of my head, both Command at Sea and General Quarters III have decent air rules for larger formations and have stats for lots of aircraft (including land-based ones). So, that could be something to look at for rules. As others have mentioned, there are a number of board games where the counters are squadrons. |

The Wings at War series by Chris Russell provides larger-scale rules for Battle of Britain and Germany '44-'45, although it is based on individual aircraft. On the site, Germany isn't listed, and BoB is in vague detail, although the sample rules (see "Bonus Game") give a pretty good idea of the overall flow. link They are available from Tumbling Dice here: link However, for a multi-squadron/flight might actually look for naval rules with aircraft carriers and do some sort of adaptation of them. |
