So, this is mostly something I'm curious about for my own products but also applies to other games too, but I'm curious to see what ya'll think. Right now I am including cards with my models, but lately I've been wondering … I know a lot of folks buy my models to use in other games, and in that case the card is just a waste and something they'll probably just throw out. Since I have the rules for each unit in the rulebook, I'm wondering if would it be better to not add the cards with the models and instead offer a downloadable PDF and/or print-on-demand cards for players that want them. This will make packaging a little easier as there's 1 less component to worry about and/or wait on if we run out. Just wondering, do you prefer to have a stat card included with your models? Or are you OK with having the rules in a book, and a downloadable PDF card / info sheet? |

NO! No cards or game stuff included please. The things are over priced as is(I don't know what minis you make) and a lot of minis are used for more games then what they are made for. So sell the cards on there own. |

I agree, go with the pdf option. I buy figures to paint and it is the figure that sells me, not the game. Matthew |

I've bought Star Wars clix minis…the cards are in a stack, somewhere. I use the minis for other games. |

I'm guessing we are talking about fantasy or Sci-Fi figures? As a historical wargame type bloke my first reaction to the topic title was 'what a bizarre idea'! |

If you can include cards without increasing the cost of the miniature it's OK. If it costs to include cards then no thank you |

Folks like myself who buy figures for other games aren't going to care about the card and would rather not pay for one. You'll find alot of such folks here at TMP. However, sci-fi and fantasy fans who buy figures for the game they are designed for would probably consider an included card to be much preferable to a print-yourself option or having to purchase a pack of cards. There's a degree of polish associated with games that have real cards over those that require you to print cards. |

What is a stat card… and why ? |

I think it's nice to have them as an option, but wouldn't want to pay for them. |

I've never actually bought figures with cards for the game they are meant for/ I cannot count the number of D&D, Star Wars, X-Wing, Wings of War, Warmachine, etc cards I have thrown away. Huge Waste. I would make the cards available via your website for download and save the printing costs. I doubt it would negatively affect sales. People are used to online resources and self printing these days. |

I cannot count the number of … X-Wing … cards I have thrown away. Good lord, why would you do that?!?! Even if you don't want to sell them, at least give them away to a good home. Those things are like gold to X-Wing players, especially those who can only afford a few models, but want to be able to play with some of the "special" ships. |

Not knowing what your product line is … are you sure that TMP denizens are typical? My impression is that TMPers are far more likely to do the "I play my own rules!" thing. (F'r example.) |

My games are Blackwater Gulch and Mechadrome. So far, I've been including the stat cards with all of them. I order them as print on demand poker sized cards from The Game Crafter and they come out nice, but lately it just seems like an added expense that isn't really necessary. The cards I have now are really just a reference card, it's not like Warmachine where you want to use the cards to keep track of damage. So I think in the future I will just drop them in favor of PDFs that players can download, and I can also set them up on The Game Crafter or Wargame Vault for players to buy the cards themselves if they want them. Or I could sell a gang pack of cards on my online store for like $1. USD I'd also like to be able to do an online gang builder app, but lack the funds to hire a programmer to make that happen :( |

Given the beating cards can take in the course of play I would be very much in favour of cards as pdfs so that damaged or lost ones could be replaced as required. |

Andoreth, since my previous comment was deleted for some reason. Here is a good vid to help keep em from being so damaged. youtu.be/qHuqW-VxxfQ?t=56 Grimm |
