Because the main Royalist field army was based at Oxford, the King's wartime capital; and we know that several Oxford Army regiments of foot were issued with uniforms including the Montero cap that these figures are wearing – coat, breeches and cap either all in red or all in blue.

Judging by the pinched waistline of the second in from the left it looks like Cromwell ran off with his plum pudding before the war was even over.

A couple of awkwardly over-long (right) arms there, too.

That said, can't wait for the musketeers and mounted troops to go with these.
