Hi
I just got General Quarters 3.3. Most of the rules makes sense to me except torpedoes. Mainly, I do not understand how the torpedo launch spread template works. I think they have a specific term for it but I don't have the rules in front of me. Does the arc represent the spread of the torpedos that you launched? It seems rather vague on this point of the explanation. I also don't see the point of port vs. starboard. Does that refer to the target, or the ship launching the torpedoes?

Thanks for any help.

The arc shows the area in which a spread of torpedoes could potentially strike a target. Any ship in that area at the end of the turn(? – can't remember right off) would be rolled against as a potential target. Sorry don't have the rules right in front of me so I'm going by memory and can't answer the second half of the question.

P or S refers to the side of the firing ship the target ship is on. They work once you practice them. I learned the hard way, torpedoing my own flagship!

If you go to the ODGW website you can pose questions on the forum. I have always received quick and excellent responses to my questions there.

Also, when you bought the rules there should have been an activation code which will give you access to the GQ3 private library that has a lot of extra downloads.

I run Fleet Action Imminent games at the HMGS cons. It took me a while to feel comfortable with the torpedo rules but I think I have it down good now.

Thanks for the help! The Port and Starboard target thing makes a lot more sense now. I will definitely run through some small games to test them out.
