Sudden Storm is ODGW's game about a naval war between Japan and the US in 1937. It includes ground combat and covers the western Pacific. Get more info at the Old Dominion GamesWorkshop website odgw.com.

Interwar naval combat seems almost non-existent. That is a shame. This campaign set is very easy to use and provides a very good picture of what life was like before planes took all the "fun" away.

I've thought of having a US attempt at taking the then undefended Eniwetok atoll. At the same time, a Japanese cruiser squadron is escorting an attempt to bring in troops to the place. Only seaplanes for air support. Sounds interesting.
