Indeed, I always found her posts to be rather insightful, and as I recall she did try to help Bill out with some technical/legal points. I suspect her disappearance from here has something to do with her not being afraid to point out "inconsistencies" in various policies and posts (I'll say "inconsistencies" since to use the term I'd prefer to use would, I suspect, not be looked upon well by some here).

TMP's loss though. I wonder how many women wargamers are active here now? Perhaps a subject for apoll?

As it has always been known it's Bill's house.Bill's rules.Perhaps when an account is Locked something like the reason being given for why an member is DH'ed it should be shown why on their profile page.

It may be Bill's house but he's invited us all in to the party. If he boots out everyone with interesting opinions, it's not going to be much of a party. When all that's left are sycophants and fanboys, it'll be a case of when the last worthwhile person leaves, please turn the lights off.

And who said it was "important" to know the reason? The question was asked but it was never claimed to be important. It is of interest, however and if there's going to be a TMP talk board, I think it's reasonable to expect people to want to use it to talk about what's happening on TMP

You seem to be one of Bill's staunchest supporters Robert, so maybe there's little danger of you being locked out. But those that criticise him from time to time might like to know what line she has crossed (because there is nothing obvious) so that they don't inadvertantly cross the same line.

She is locked for getting involved in the fracas and ticking-off the editor. Don't go to a party and get the host mad at you, cause you won't get invited back. It is a really simple concept.

Yeah the only way gals get to stay here is if there seen but never heard. This is definitely a boys only club and that is a really really sad truth.

There was a heated "frothers" thread a week or so ago, and, as these threads always will do, it ends with a barring or three.

It seems like that's what always happens – it's wiser (IMHO) to keep your frothers and your TMP lives separate. But that's just my opinion.

My rules for enjoying TMP

1) Avoid any topic the editor starts that has nothing to do with toy soldiers, miniatures and rules for using these to have fun

2) Avoid any threads that have anything to do with current affairs or politics (not perfect, but I have been doing better over the last months)

3) Paint stuff, play stuff, read stuff that are usefull to toy soldeirs, miniatures and rules that have to do with these so that I can post them on TMP and have fun.

4) Opened a account in Pednraken's forum were I get more people following my stuff (because they are not eating time with stuff that have nothing to do with the hobby)

TMP has become two things : 1) A site on our good Hobby 2) A blog or facebook-equivalent for Bill and some of the posters.

Follow 1) and ignore 2) and the world is a-ok.

We are not owed an explanation. All this is is TMP rubbernecking. We see an crash and slow down to gawk. Move on! If she wants back in, let her work it out with the management. It isn't for use to decide so it isn't any of our business.

Sure there is, supporting members, advertisers, basic members all posting away to supply content. Without which there is nothing to see. Us.

Ah, hell, have to break neutrality and voice my support for KatieL with this one. The way I see it she was being part of the solution (trying to mollify some of the inflamed combative attitudes between the Billistas and Frothers), not the problem.

If Bill had not started TMP this hobby would be a far sorrier place. He is the "founder of the feast". This business of sticking pins in him because you can is asking for it. Myself, I would be far less tolerant in many cases and for sure would not get into having to explain the reason why to people who have no intention, for the most part, in accepting the reason why.

So why did she get locked out?

You had one which said you wouldn't publish email addresses and then when you did publish someone's in a sockpuppeting incident (that in that case clearly wasn't) you said you were amending or binning it. But that was months ago, so what did she do recently to upset you?

I feel the same way hocklermp5. I own and moderate a few Groups on Yahoo and FB. I usually give a member 3 chances. If they continue in breaking the rules after that,which are really quite simple,then the Ban Hammer comes down swiftly. And I give no explanation. It should be obvious to them.

This has all been gone over before. She insists TMP is in violation of some law somewhere for not having a privacy policy, but she's never been able to back up her claims.

It's this kind of repetitive, purposeless complaining which makes her a detriment to the community. And I think her blog post shows an unwarranted animus against TMP.

I don't think she should get preferential treatment due to her gender, do you? She has a long-standing pattern of coming to TMP to whine, then going to another forum to whine even more. We really don't need a chorus of never-satisfied whiners here on TMP.

Bill, once the complaint button is hit, the offending material disappears and the poster gets sent to the DH. Should we make screenshots of every thread so that way we can provide proof after you delete offending comments?

I've just caught up with this. Yes, Katie may occasionally be outspoken, but I've generally found her posts to be useful and would support her account being reinstated. I have sent a PM directly to our editor to say as much.

It seems if this trend continues that not only will more people be kicked out, but a lot will simple say I have had enough and leave on there own like they have before.

The question is will they stop leaving or will it get to the point that there is no one to read tango's posts any longer?
