I have a queue of assorted bits and bobs due for finishing this weekend:

  • 15 6mm buildings for a big Flames of War game I'm building up to
  • Four platoons of Soviets (mortars & HMG) for that same game
  • Four US AT Guns and prime movers (GHQ)
  • four bases of 6mm Russians for Leipzig (basing)
  • a dozen birch trees
  • Some forest tree bases
  • One toy re-paint for my 15mm Sci Fi collection….

jeffreyw321 Mar 2015 1:32 p.m. PST

Where'd you get the birch trees?

Working on 300 6mm Napoleonic.
Dutch Line, Dutch Militia, Belgium Line, Belgium Light and some British Light Rifle. These are the last infantry I need for a Waterloo game later this summer.

Terrain stuff for a game, Ligny/Quatre Bras, I am putting on at Little Wars in April.

Planning to decal some Israeli and Egyptian 1/300 jets. I hope to pick up more jets at Little Wars in April.

The birch trees are scratch builds. Wire armatures wrapped with tape and painted. Add green flock then base on washers. Too much work. I'll buy off Ebay next time.

• Some simple and some not so simple conversions to Perry Late War Ansar spearmen to get sword and command figures as they don't make them in metal.

• On-going Wings of War/Glory 1/144 WWI planes being fully repainted.

• I'm finishing off a 25mm ECW command stand.

• I've started some AB Portuguese but with everything else I'm working on I felt overwhelmed by the amount of modelling and painting stacking up so I've put these away. Out of sight out of mind. Sometime when I feel like painting them I'll dig them out.

Scratch built caissons, today finished my version of a Preuss7grenadwagenreite, a drawling I found in my pictures I saved on 3/5/13 but don't know where I saved it from. Now I'm on a easier Russian M1803 2 wheeled caisson and next will be a Russian M1796 4 wheel caisson and have to make a 2 wheel Prussian but no idea of a design yet. Oh and finished today 6 Siberian Dragoons to finish a Regiment I started with 4 Siberian Uhlans.

The same thing that has been on my table since mid December: 96 Russian 1812 infantry that have totally destroyed what little painting mojo I had going. I hope to have them done within the next two weeks though. I hope.

Preparing for Texicon at the end of June. I've got 28mm Arab Slavers, Ruga-Ruga, Askari & Brits to paint. My biggest terrain building challenge to date, I need to create a waterfall and river.

Once all of that is out of the way, I have the Bones II Kickstarter minis to paint.

And I have the final chapter of Pearl's Plight to write.

I have to be insane, carving the box out of a piece of cedar. I tried a 10mm which I finished but looks to small so I'm going up to a 15mm square slimming the sides down a mm each to leave a "soffit" then sloping the roof to the height I want.

Henry Martini21 Mar 2015 8:17 p.m. PST

But seriously, while we're south of the border… :

Two units of 15 Federales in white, one in peaked caps as above, and one in kepis (Woodbine head swaps).

Some Federal artillerists and machine gunners.

One unit of 15 soldaderas.

All of the above are Old Glory figures, and all will be dipped using AP Quickshade.

One unit of 12 Foundry Old West Mexican infantry, painted using the black undercoat/layer method (I can't bring myself to use AP on Foundry figures… yet).

Thunderbolt Mountain Heavy Goblins (83) and Unarmoured Goblin archers (20). Cleaned of flash/mould lines, weapons and shields added, including conversion to double wield for some, and primed black. These are such fun figures, with detail that has earned Tom Meier legendary status. I didn't fully appreciate Tom's wizardry until I began on these figures.

I am scratch-building boats for the orcs and goblins. The boats are actually wooden platforms on the backs of huge sea creatures, with working ramps that lower at the point of attack on the lake-town I am also building.

Currently my painting table is overrun by one of my sons. Which is fine with me because I am doing some figure/terrain storage re-org and have the 6x12' gaming table covered in partially assembled trees, hedges, and various other 30 minute projects that I've left sit too long. I will get these wrapped up next week hopefully.

On the painting table are:

- About 200 bottles of paint, mostly in the spinner rack.
- 30-40 GW Chaos Warriors and minions that range from freshly primed to almost done.
- Assorted brushes, tools, etc mostly in the side racks of the table.

This son is a prolific painter. These will all be done within a few weeks, I need to figure out how he does that…

I am rebasing and reorganizing some of 6mm WW2 stuff into new storage boxes. Surprisingly for rebasing, I'm actually quite enjoying it, and at the end of reorg I should have freed up a whole three boxfiles of storage space.

Then I can buy some more stuff to fill it.
