You decided on which zouave regiment, and which one was it? These guys look good. |

Thanks Tig, I've gone for Garrads Tigers! I probably will end up doing the keystone zouaves as well. I've almost finished my coloured infantry so then its on to the 146th, any help or advice you can offer will be warmly recieved. |

I'm not familiar with the Garrads uniform, but I know the Keystone uniform. Keystone is navy blue jacket, medium blue pants, sky blue vest under the jacket, and navy blue fez. I'll have to look into the tassel color. |

The 146th newyork vol inf wore a mid blue jacket and pants, yellow trim, red fez and sash both trimmed with yellow. They look pretty smart but I was attracted by the name of Garrads tigers. I will have tigers for both sides, even if the blue bellies are not in the same class. The keystone zouaves only took secound place due to the fact they looked a little too much like standard uniforms from a distance! Dark blue jacket and lighter blue pants. I wanted them to stand out a bit more and with the name keystone all I could see was the keystone cops. |

Keystone is because they were from Pennsylvania, the Keystone State because of its shape. Up until recently on the Pennsylvania national guard and reserves uniform, only those who had seen combat could wear a red keystone on their uniform. The bloody keystone, it was called. A friend had given me one of the patches a long time ago because I was raised in Penna. Good luck with your other Tigers. TIG |
