I'm looking for some 15mm Matilda 1's and II's for my 1940 BEF and looking for alternatives to BattleFront/FOW models.

Has anyone any thoughts on Zvezdas two models – looking for a decent table top tank not a diorama model.

Cheers

Nick

They are easy to build, but I found the detail lacking.

I can only speak for the Matilda 1, but in terms of the original ask "a decent tabletop model" I would say that it more than fulfils that requirement. It may not have the detail of metal models, or the best plastics, but it is a perfectly decent kit.

I have lots of the Matilda II, it is not as detailed as for example a Battlefront model but it is more than useable.

The only slight negative is that the gun barrel is to scale and that makes it quite flimsy. I have not broken any barrels yet but in the end I can see a heavy hand may cause one to go.

Love them, need three more to complete a 16 strong Squadron

My experience with zvesda (haven't bought matilda's – yet) would suggest they are at least serviceable and with a little detailing can look comparable to the other (more expensive) makers models.
