Hi all

There's a great little exhibition of (mostly black and white) prints at The Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge (UK), at the moment. It's free to visit, and is showing till June 28th.

There are 40 images in total, from all sorts of artists: famous names such as Gericault, Delacroix, Vernet and Daumier are present, alongside lesser known names like Raffet and Charlet.

Most of the works are by Frenchmen. But Gillray manages to sneak a bit of classic British satire in there as well.

I've written a short post on the show here:

Modern Heroism: Printmaking and the legacy of Napoleon Bonaparte

If anyone goes to see this as a result of my post, please let me know via my blog. We could perhaps even meet for coffee and a chat? The Fitz has a lovely café!

Cheers

Seb

Thanks for the info – I haven't popped into the Fitzwilliam in years – must make the effort !

They do suggest a donation upon entry however – always nice to leave a little something for a wonderful museum that is free to all.
