What is a "basement group"?

Mostly at a 4 held in a 3. But also at another 4, another 3 and sometimes a 2. Never a 1 though.

All but 3. Technically the basement is a garage (we don't have basements in Florida) for the moment, but I am relocating and it will soon be an actual basement.

Mostly 1 as I live in the middle of nowhere. But I hope someday enough humans might be living round here to make 2 possible. There is always hope.

All but #4 as I cannot say I have joined a "Group". Our "basement" gaming gang have been together since 1975. Stores are far away but some days I travel from the warren. Conventions I tend to run a game or two as GM. Solo gaming all the time… testing out new ideas and game mechanics.

a "Basement Group" is a generic term for a group of gamers who habitually meets in the basement, attic, garage, or some room of one of the player's house.

OK, so now ask yourself, which do you find the best place for war games? I understand that they all have their significant advantages or disadvantages, but does one mode of gaming consistently yield the best games or is the happiest or most pleasant for you>

Mainly clubs but some games at people's houses and at shows and very occasionaly at a store.

Also one not mentioned, public events – we do 3 to 4 of these as a club each year

There is no best place – to me it is the game that is important not where it is played

I've done them all. But store and solo is it for now. And I'm more of a "mythical" solo player, i.e. haven't engaged in it for some years, but I think about it practically every day, and decide not to for various reasons, but mostly because I decide the effort won't give back the level of satisfaction that I want….

Virtually all my gaming revolves around a private club. We game mostly in folks basements though occasionally we visit a store or put on a game at a convention.

4 and in my rather large sitting room, and in good weather on the drive, and once on the back patio whilst on fox watch!

Otto in answer to your second question, for me nothing beats the friendly atmosphere of the basement group.

Yes, for me too. But I've had some convention games and a few games in a club that have done as well-- but-- I must emphasize-- a few.

mostly 1 now, 5 our local con and 4(which is now having game days at various FLHS.

I hope we get at least two whole games in this year, which will be a 100% improvement on 2014 …
