Hi all We are having a week down in South Devon – any tips on what a wargamer might want to visit, along with better half and dog in need of exercise I might be able to sneak a game in if there are any club nights on? Dave |

Dear David, If you want to make a couple of day trips from Devon, then Bovington Tank Museum is about two hours away. Portsmouth Historical Dockyard (Mary Rose, Victory) is about three hours away. Regards Mick |

Go to Bigbury on Sea and walk across the beach to Burgh Island with its hotel which inspired Agatha Christie to write Evil Under The Sun. Keeping the Agatha Christie theme going go to Dittisham near Dartmouth take the passenger ferry across the river to Greenways (Her home, National Trust now) and walk around the house and gardens. Then back across the ferry to Dittisham and eat a superb lunch at the riverside Anchorstone Cafe. Dartmouth is quite commercial, but worth a trip to see Boyards Quay (where they filmed the Onedin Line)and take the car ferry across to Kingswear and drive to Coleton Fishacre (National Trust) country retreat of the D'oyley Carte family, a perfectly restored 1920s house. When the sun is shining there is no better place to be than the South Hams, have fun! |

Hello dave Weymouth club meeting is on Friday 27th(you can both come to tea too!). We can also get a game in this friday 20th if you are in weymouth. We will make you welcome of course. One problem is that the dog would have to stay in our enclosed garden as Andy gets allergic to dogs!! (sorry) Have a good holiday. martin |

Check the South West Coast path – there are some great day walks. There's one near Newton Ferrers (I think) that passes through a WWII Radar station (IIRC). Make a start here : link Oh, and Dartmoor – don't forget Dartmoor. Walk in the footsteps of Sherlock Holmes on the trail of the hound of the Baskevilles (Hound Tor, Grimpound, etc). |

Thanks for the invitation Martin but we are staying at Diptford which according to the AA is a 2 hour drive so I probably won't make it. It is a shame – it looks a great club to visit |
