A second outing for the new urban base board, this time using Fall of the Reich. Cyril again took the Allies, and this time crushed the 1945 Germans!

Those that know our Cyril, will know his dice rolling is poor… one win is good but two massacres in two days for him is unheard of! Thankfully he played Garry, who had worse luck than me, while Cyril just seemed to roll six after six… so many in fact that after the first turn Garry had managed to drawn 15 points on four chits! With a BR of 25, it only got worse… The Panzerscreck bounced off the Jumbo, MGs and Assault Rifles couldnt hit, the Tiger turned up and failed to spot… it was just a typical day in April 1945!

By turn 5 it was all over with German morale broken and the US hardly breaking a sweat… but all enjoyed it and the new table got a thumbs up!

Piers:
Breath-taking work there. How do you store such terrain? It appears to be six modules (?) but each module looks to be very voluminous and hard to store. How do you do it and still have places to game and or live?
The quality of your work and your attention to detail are superb. You are a Gentile Bellini for our modern age. Bravissimo!
Cheers.

I'm going to go weep in a corner.

Very nice looking setup. What rules are you using?

PatrickWR17 Mar 2015 6:40 a.m. PST

Literally looks like scenes from a movie. Bravo!

Piers plays Battlegroup (in this case Battlegroup Fall of the Reich). Terrific rules set and one of my all time favorites.

I am reminded of a scene in The Karete Kid – the original one not the recent rehash.

"Imagine perfect tree – keep picture in mind – make bonsai tree like picture of tree…" – or something like that.

These games remind me of 'perfect games' – what we aim for when we imagine playing a wargame with figures and terrain and model vehicles.

Visually – it is exactly what a wargame should look like.

Too often a game becomes popular and many people start to play who have no interest in the overall visual appeal. Perhaps their models are well painted and the terrain good quality too – but at some point it just doesn't harmonize. The tanks are lined up track to track – the infantry are on bases too big to fit in among the buildings or something else that makes me think – what a pity.

Doesn't get any better than this no matter what the scale!

Peirs there are times I wish you weren't such a nice bloke it would make it so much easier to hate you. ;-)

Who will be joining uglyfatbloke weeping in the corner.

We are just the ones who are owning up to it. Piers' table is the sort of thing that leads to pointed questions from my better half about why our scenery is n't as cool as this and what do I intend to do about it?

PiersBrand17 Mar 2015 5:36 p.m. PST

Fatman and Uglyfatbloke,

If ye ever fancy a trip to Ireland, you two loons are always welcome for a game.

uglyfatbloke18 Mar 2015 6:52 a.m. PST

You never know, we might take you up on that – though of course there are two of us. Pat'd love to see her Pz\Grs and/or her Canadians fighting on your lovely scenery and I'd love to see my British paras do their stuff too! Somehow I don't think it would look so good with her 14th Army Indians and my Japanese…

PiersBrand18 Mar 2015 7:26 a.m. PST

Dont worry… We have jungle terrain too… ;)

Fatman18 Mar 2015 8:19 a.m. PST

Piers you may live to regret that post!

So one day we'll descend on Ireland with the Pankot Rifles and the Muzzirabad Guides….and possibly a Territorial battalion of the Royal Corps of Halberdiers.

PiersBrand18 Mar 2015 12:03 p.m. PST

Trust me, ye cant be as bad as the lot of culchies I reguarly play with…

uglyfatbloke18 Mar 2015 12:10 p.m. PST

..and of course the Mayapore Hussars and the Mirat Light Cavalry…
We are sad, sad people; our house is teeming with toy soldiers so if you ever fancy a jaunt to Shetland we can lay on one of our ludicrously over-the-top games.
