I feel badly for you Viper. I hate to think you went to all the trouble to put on a game and nobody showed up to play. I suppose a goodly number of folks play games with commercially available rule sets in order to see if they like them. A homegrown set of rules, even though they might be quite good, doesn't afford them the opportunity. Beautiful game though. |

The problem with commercial rules is that they tend to be complex and take too long to learn my rules are damn simple and folks are shooting by the third turn. |

Rick, That looks like a great set-up and should have been a fun game. Sorry that the gamers in attendance didn't bother to try it out. Dave wargamingminiatures.com |

You have a great looking table! |

Excellent looking set up! Pity others didn't get involved. Where did you find a detailed OOB for both sides for this action and a map of the battlefield, I'd like to try it as a scenario… |

Don't take it personally, Viper . . . it happens occasionally (and I speak from experience). It can be discouraging when you don't get any players after putting in all the hours it takes to assemble the terrain and forces and put together a scenario. It certainly wasn't the table that kept gamers away – that was lovely. It probably wasn't the Home Brew rules, either. There are plenty of gamers around that will cheerfully jump into a game with rules they don't already know. It was probably just an unfortunate confluence of events; being scheduled in a slow time slot, competition from other ACW games at the same time, etc. Don't let it deter you from crafting and offering nice tables and scenarios – next time will likely be a different story entirely. |
