This is the way the Mars Attacks miniatures game should have been made with vintage Army Troops. The Retro troops that came with the Kickstarter had enough arms and legs that a guy could cast up some bodies and bases and basically triple his army size… so I did. My tanks are made by the same people who make the troops. It is a nice kit and builds easily and you get thee of them. I washed the parts, painted them green, gave them a black wash, built them, washed them again with black, dry brushed highlights, added decals, weathered and added damage. I love them! The troops look okay. I was not happy with the colors. I wish I would have done more small groups of soldiers with color schemes matching the cards. I just picked one card and went with that for all my units. I might re-paint this summer. We will see.

Enjoy:

The troops are Bolt Action miniatures. Mantic Games gave them out with the kick-starter as the retro troops.

Can someone post my Flickr link for this to the Mantic Games Facebook page? I don't have a Facebook page so I can not do it.

Cheers,
Mike

Which Bolt Action set was this? I just bought this game, and was looking to replace the modern U.S. Soldiers with Wargames Factory ones.

It is the US Armored Platoon. I have a photo of the box in my set.

It is a nice kit. The tanks build well.

Hi'ya The Black Android,

I like what your doing a whole lot!

The main reason I went in big on the KS was to play Dust Warfare with the Martian Grunts.

You inspired me to start a thread and post some of my pics. You can check'em out at this link if you like.

That is lovely! Me, I'll be going the opposite way. I intend to buy a bunch of Spectre Miniatures modern Delta Operators and PMCs and run them as Swedish SOG and mercs in a MA Today game.

Awesome stuff. Did you glue the building pieces together. I really liked the game mechanics, figures and the other models/vehicles, but the buildings were a bit of a disappointment. The ground scatter and other pieces were fine, just the wall pieces were a pain to put together and keep together. Loved the weathering you did to them.

The walls are very fickle. You have to push them together hard. I did not want to glue them so I could move them around. I broke two already and re-glued them. I might be doing okay because I did not paint my walls I just rubbed white paint on them and then rubbed it off to make the grout. And then I did a black acrylic wash (Acrylic paint mixed to same consistency as 2% milk poured or brushed over model). They sort of came out looking like real brick.

Thanks, I wanted the flexibility as well, but I had problems with keeping stuff together during the game. Thank, again your stuff looks great.
