A long time ago I read that the newly arrived Italian Semoventes for the Gazala battles were, at least initially, attached to a German formation, probably the Afrika Division.
Can anyone back this up? |

According to Greene and Massignani the Semoventes were attached to Ariete. Ariete did of course support DAK as it outflanked the Gazala position, possibly the source of the confusion? |
