There's been an interesting conversation on the Cy6 yahoo group about modeling the vertical and horizontal movement of a plane doing a special maneuver and how Cy6 doesn't simulate that or does so in a basic way.
My question is what rules do simulate those special maneuvers like the Split-S or Immelmann well or at least attempt too beyond what Cy6 does?

AirWar:C21 does a reasonable job in 2-D.

For 3-D, Duel of Eagles and Clash of Sabres are very good, and hex-less.

Birds of Prey is supposed to be very realistic, but I've never played it. From accounts I've seen it may be too complex for all but the most diehard aerial gamers.

Primarily board games come to mind. Air Force/Dauntless and the Achtung! Spitfire series from Clash of Arms, if you're looking at WWII (the Achtung! Spitfire series in much more detail). For Jets, Air Superiority/Air Strike and the 2nd gen of the game, Speed of Heat, as well as the old SPI Air War. While Air Force is a step up from CY6! and models the maneuvers effectively in one turn, like CY6!, the others can take several turns to complete the maneuver.

Air War from SPI was the first game that I played where you really maneuvered in 3D. It was much easier to Immelman or Split S an F4 than it was to turn one.

Air War C21 is elegant rather than simplistic. Does the job for me…

Wings AT War (not OF) rules slightly more complex but a good set of rules too.

I have found Air Force/Dauntless on Ebay for a reasonable price. I will have to check for Achtung! Spitfire.

Where can one find Speed of Heat and Air War C21?

Wings at War, Duel of Eagles and Clash of Sabres are produced by whom?

VicCina If you can find the Expansion Pack it's really cool, it adds in Russian and I think Italian aircraft As well as aircraft like the P-36 and P-51A.

Speed of Heat is by Clash of Arms and covers Korea and Vietnam, however, I believe it's OOP so you'll have to check eBay, Noble Knight and other second hand game shops.
