My military history class has advanced to the "Waterloo" case study. each unit culminates with a week-long tabletop simulation. Despite extensive reading from Clausewitz at the beginning of the semester, it is nearly impossible to get these kids to maintain a reserve. link

Just played our first session today. The English shook out into line and the French rumbled forward. Artillery exchanged a few long range shots. One student speculated that his lack of success was due to the muddy ground. Glad they learned something. |

We had class today, and the two sides started to mix it up. The Old Guard withstood a cavalry charge in line, the Prussians arrived early, and both sides think the scenario is stacked against them. link |
