Which is your favorite army from the Napoleonic era? Feel free to explain why (interesting uniforms, tactics, history, etc.) |

Wurttemburg. Nice, compact little army. Colorful uniforms early on. Fought reasonably well throughout. |

Turks. I don't game Napoleonics but I paint a ton of them and they are the easiest to do, depending on scale. |

1806 Prussians, cause they're under-rated and people use them incorrectly. Like the uniforms, esp the cavalry. |

The British because I like painting the uniform and the AB infantry at order arms are just awesome sculpts to paint – handy when you need lots of something. GMB do flags to complete the line up. |

I always ask for the Poles when Mark puts on a game. Good troops except when I roll a 02 to close. Not their fault, darn it! If I were to have to paint my own army I would do Confederation of the Rhine so I wouldn't get bored painting the same uniform over and over. |

Brunswickers for the hundred days……Black is very ominous. My second choice is Austrians, Don't let all that white fool you, it is a very colorful army. My third choice is the French…….very peacock looking and all that! |

If I still did Napoleonic – Austrians and Spanish (tie) because it is a challenge to win using the latter and the former inspire me with their dogmatic opposition to Napoleon/Revolutionary France. |

Austrians and Swedes- if I can have two choices. |

Spanish due to the variety of colors, especially the later period. I've even managed to win a couple times with a later Spanish army!! |

1809 Austrians. You can always add more and use them for nearly every campaign. And French |

Wahhabist tribesmen in southern Iraq / Iran 80-90,000 men armed with swords, spears a handful of matchlocks and light guns, but all riding camels can't be wrong. Regards David F Brown |

Reuss (6th Regiment, Confederation of the Rhine)-Their infantry dress uniforms are very handsome, and I can almost afford to field them on a 1:1 basis. Besides the other members of my old club had taken everybody else. Grelber |

Brunswick. A Duke with a mission. Nassau. Pretty green, fights for both sides. |

My favorites: #1 Bavarians. Combination of cornflower blue uniforms, cool looking Raupenhelm helmets, and of course, beer. #2 French in bicornes (pre-1806). Love the look of those hats. Also like the revolutionary theme of the 1790s. #3 Austrians, especially favor uniform in helmets (pre-1810). |

I'm fond of my Saxon army. They're not the best, they're nice looking (especially my red coated Uhlans) but not wow amazing like Bavarians, they received a fair number of thrashings at the hands of everyone except the British but it's that ability to bounce back they have that makes them a fond underdog. |

The Luddites. It is Napoleonic Era, i.e. time period. While not directly involved in the big continental wars (or their subsidiaries in the colonies (oops!), the Luddite Rebellion was during that time. Ran a game about it a couple of years ago. |

British! because I'm British, and we beat everyone. Well, mostly. |

I thought we won that war for independence thing… Yes, Spain, Dutch, and France did help. Back then the British were seen by many as the big bully (like France under the revolution/Napoleonic period.) The Austrians and Prussians (and less so the Russians) did a lot of the heavy lifting for the Brits in the beginning… Thinking in top 5 poll terms: 1&2 Spain/Austria (tie as stated above) 3 France 4 Russian 5 Prussian possibly instead of Prussia cool minor powers I'd let someone else field the Brits. |

Austrians, mostly since I played them in Empires in Arms and just kind of stuck with them since then. |

The Duke of York's Anglo-Allied force in Flanders. Very colorful, with a wide variety of troops, included emigre French. Also, rarely for a British, they had a relatively large % of cavalry. Or Suvorov's army in 1798. |
