Hello. I'm looking into some good synthetic brushes for painting acrylic. I have various synthetic and natural hair brushes. I mainly want to get synthetic versions of all of them. I'm looking for high quality synthetics. I already have various "Winsor and Newton" brushes and really don't find they meet my style. I like the stiffer feeling of synthetics and use them 90% of the time so far. A brush that I'm really fond of is the "Monster" (size 4?) by Army Painter. I use it most of the time. The problem being, it's large and really doesn't work well for some of my projects. So, I basically want brushes that use the same synthetic as the monster, in all the sizes I can get them in.
I'm not really worried about the cost as long as it isn't crazy. Thanks. |

Reaper Golden Taklon synthetic brushes are amazing. Much better (for me) than W&N. They just do not last more than a few months. I am willing to pay $12 USD or so every three to five months for the great experience, though. |

I would recommend the synthetic/sable mix brushes from Rosemary & Co. Check out the Series 401 brushes (I prefer the long handled versions) at; rosemaryandco.com Good luck. Tony |

Tony – How long is the long handle, vs the short handle? |

I have a couple of the standard 401's and they are 170mm long (tip of bristles to end of handle). The long handle version is 300mm long (tip of bristle to end of handle). Surprisingly, I find the long handle brush easier to use. I hope that this helps. Tony |

Thanks for the replies. I ended up ordering size 2,1,0, and 3/0 Golden Synthetic brushes from "Rosemary and Co". I was going to get a 4 also, but, I have two of those "Army Painter: Monster" that are size 4. I didn't see a need for another size 4 since I'm happy with them. Not sure how long those will take to get here. Assuming I like them, I'll order a 2nd set to have as back up since they're shipped from the UK and I'm in the US. Thanks again. I'll be sure to post what I think about the brushes. |
