Many thanks to all who supported Hammerhead 2015 – the feedback has been very positive and we look forward to making Hammerhead 2016 even bigger and better for visitors, gamers and traders.

We have published two collections of photographs, Part One and Part Two, of Hammerhead 2015 and a written show report. These are available to read and view on the Hammerhead forum:

kallistra.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=433…together with two videos of the days games.

Very good – thanks, sadly I missed the show, but hope to be there next year.

I went last year and know how much effort you put into it to make it work.

There seems to be some discussion going on in various places that wargame shows should have fewer (or none) demo games and more (or all) participation games – so you guys are ahead of the curve.

Sorry I missed the show, poor health and too many other things to do made getting there just a bit too much.

Great show report.

Now if all the other show organisers did this for their shows….

Well done Sally and Paul.

We went last year and this year and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves both times. The venue last year felt pretty cramped TBH, this year was a vast improvment however and hopefully next year will be even better.
Unfortunately we arrived an hour after kick off and only managed to get in two games when three would have been nice, and although the end was advertised as 4.30 I believe, it was getting hard to find anyone interested in starting a game at 3pm on the ones we wanted to play, which was a shame.
Thanks for putting on such a great show though and I hope it goes from strength to strength.

I had a great time at Hammerhead and the day just flew by. I played 3 games and perhaps was lucky that the Sons of Simon de Montfort were willing to put on a last game of Lion Rampant that started at about 3pm. I have v little interest in 'demo' games, especially if the people 'demonstrating' aren't v good at engaging with those they are supposed to be demonstrating to! I've found participation games are far better for seeing if you like a game's mechanics than being a passive observer, and can often be good fun too!

I have to agree with Cambria, and although we played Wow WW2 which we play at home we also played 5 men in Normandy which I wouldn't normally look twice at, and found it to be surprising entertaining and we really enjoyed it, which just goes to show what you can miss if every game is a demo game.

I forgot to add a thank you to the guys from Lincoln who after we had played 5 Men in Normandy gave the dice he had used to my 7 year old as a present. It was very generous and a touching thing to do, and it makes the experience for kids that age even better and makes them want to come again next year even more. If other games did the same, a small token or momento for the small persons it would possibly help to keep them hooked. Last year at Derby we played WoW and there Josh got a (paper) medal and afterwards his pic posted on the WoW aerodrome website, again a nice way for him to remember the day and encourage him to keep playing historical wargames.
