Another one done just for fun really. An old metal Dinky toy which arrived from 'a well known online auction site' looking like it had spent the past few decades in a sandpit, which was ideal for my purposes of stripping it down, repainting it, and giving it new tyres. forwardrecon.blogspot.co.uk

I'm curious, you have British crews in the vehicles, and they are British vehicles, but you have American markings on them? |

American markings as used by Empire/Commonwealth troops in Northwest Europe, to reduce friendly-fire incidents. |

As Legbiter said, all Allied vehicles in Western Europe and Italy had the circled star as a identification marker, primarily to indicate to the many prowling Allied aircraft that they were friends (which is why the Dingo has its star on the back deck). Wouldn't want a "jabo" to get you by mistake. Jim |

Nice work on the Dinky – I've got one which I've had from the fifties. It recently got a repaint and is now the command vehicle for one of my VBCW commanders. I know I've had to stretch timelines a bit to get it into VBCW but I've got a convincing (to me) background story to justify it. It's too nice a model not to use for something – well done. Doug |
