there seemed a little of bit of buzz for it when it first came out, but I haven't seen much of it that wasn't from the developers since then.

I picked up the rules a while ago, but I really haven't had a chance to try them out yet.

We've played it a couple times. Most recently last week, though I see you've seen our posting. Our group divides on whether it's purposefully "open" or just shy of complete (I'm the later), but the core mechanics work quite well and give a fun game. It's a nice change of pace from our usual SBH fantasy skirmishes. One of our members is seriously considering writing up a proper homebrew expansion for fantasy and campaign.

i like the rules but have yet to play test them for myself. i got OC for dark age skirmishes, which would be fun for a 3 x 3 foot board with a lot of terrain.

My friends and I had our first game of Open Combat this weekend. One of the group lost his home and all his gaming stuff to a fire over the Christmas holidays. We've been helping him get his gaming collection restarted and wanted him to try the rules for use with a nicely painted set of 40mm Vikings he just finished up. Being our first go, I'm sure we got some bits wrong but we all had a great time and agreed the rules gave a good game. We plan to play again very soon.

Just picked up these rules as PDF. Have anyone of you gents come up with a baseline for an average human warrior?
