Can anyone tell me if any companies do Warsaw Pact/NATO/American/Russian figures in plastic.
I will be doing a game set in the 1980s-1990s era.

Thanks

You should not need thousands, so try metal and go metal!

Matt has chaps in full IPE which was how we spent a lot of our time in the 80s!!

All they lack is the damp webbing/hessian smell!

I can also recommend Elhiem figures, you won´t need that many figures to warrant plastic sets, and the quality is just sooo much better, it is absolutely worth every buck.

At Enfilade Figures, I´m also offering accessory sets that are very compatible in size to Elhiem figures and fill some gaps. Two new set of SAS have just been released:

There were a plastic few sets in the 80's but they are all OOP now – you can pick some up on ebay. Airfix did Soviets and Americans and the RAF Ground crew set includes infantry in NBC kit. Esci did some Warsaw pact stuff. Revell did some Germans and (I think some US infantry). Matchbox did British Paras in berets and A Call To Arms recently put out a set of 1980's British, also in Berets…

The link to PSR above lists all the various plastic sets including reviews, box contents etc. Some are better than others.

I wonder if the OP was after modern hard plastic figures though?

Can I ask why people think he won't need many figures? If he is doing a company level game he is looking at 100+ figures a side. My 1980's Cold War forces, a mix of metal/plastic 20mm, are organized at that level.

The old Esci sets are now sold by Italeri.
Revell makes a number of good sets.
Caesar miniatures makes several good plastic sets.
Zvezda has just released a number of hard plastic Cold War sets that complement the Esci/Italeri sets well in size and variety.
Buy plastic figures then supplement them with the few metal figures for officers, radios, snipers and such.

Airfix also produced a Special Air Service set.

Could not disagree more. Unless "just sooo much better" is code for chunky unrealistic proportions.

Bunkermeister has a great list there.
Check them out on Plastic Soldier Review to see what they look like before buying.
